The writer has seen a quick ascension up the Hollywood food chain, thanks to his 2012 Black List placing script for "Transcendence," which is now being made into a Wally Pfister directed, Christopher Nolan produced, Johnny Depp starring movie. Not bad. And for his next trick? He's jumping on board what could be the most difficult sequel in development. Yep, the "Prometheus" sequel is indeed brewing, and Fox are in negotiations for Paglen to write the script. He's inheriting a movie that got a very mixed reception, and a franchise which is beloved and practically guarded by fans with very, very high expectations. But regardless it's a massive stepping stone for Paglen, and if he nails it, the gig could see his career vaulted even further than before. It's easy to see why he'd be willing to take it on -- it's a big challenge -- and he's got his work cut out for him. But he also likely has a good amount of breathing room. It seems this "Highlander" reboot just can't get moving, can it? Having already gone through a plethora of writers -- Art Marcum and Matt Holloway ("Iron Man"), the Wibberlys, "Twilight" scribe Melissa Rosenberg and most recently Neal Oppenheim -- and directors including Justin Lin and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Ryan Reynolds was the most recent piece of talent keeping this forever developing project alive and now, it's back to square one. The Wrap reports that Reynolds has exited the project, which is being spun as good news (kind of). Why? Well, because the thinking goes that a new director can now come onto the project and cast whoever they like to lead the movie instead of being saddled with Reynolds. Okay fine, but frankly, given how long this movie has spun its wheels and how many people have gone through the turnstiles, we're not holding our breath that suddenly this will magically come together with a director and talent suddenly being given....

From a Luc Besson action flick getting a veteran to Armie Hammer getting swapped for a hot rising actor, a few casting bits and bobs to keep you ahead of the game. First up, Morgan Freeman has joined Luc Besson's upcoming actioner "Lucy. nbsp;Scarlett Johansson leads the movie playing a woman who is forced to become a drug mule but finds the substances have entered her body instead turning her into some kind of ass-kicking badass. Uh, okay. Scratch that -- she basically becomes all the X-Men combined as "her new abilities allow her to see into the future, move objects with her mind and disregard pain and other emotions. Lord. Freeman will play a science dude who can explain all this, who Lucy attempts to find before she dies or something. This sounds pretty dumb. If you listen to the internet -- and that’s always a potentially precarious thing to do -- Warner Bros. Man Of Steel” is either the worst movie of all time or the best movie of all time and of course, nothing in between (and lord there’s been some kicking and screaming by people who disagree with one another). d it’s either all due Zack Snyder inability to direct or David Goyer’s (and to an extent Christopher Nolan’s) writing genius. ted some Playlisters did not like this movie much and some of it thought it was decent-to-ok, but we’d still like to think there’s a middle ground to be found when looking at this latest Superman movie (in fact, we’re happy to say our original review does just that). So, will this movie beget a “Justice League” super-team-up movie? that even the success metric? A “Man Of Steel” sequel is already in the works and while Superman couldn’t outgun “Iron Man 3” at the 2013 box-office this year, it did break some June release records....

Day by day, Netflix continues to movie away from content provider to full on broadcast company, and they show no signs of slowing down. With "House Of Cards," "Hemlock Grove" and "Arrested Development" already out of their original programming gate in 2013, with "Orange Is The New Black" coming next month, the company has now inked another deal that will find even more exclusive shows on their site. We hope your local internet provider is ordering up some new servers. Netflix and DreamWorks Animation are partnering for 300 hours of material exclusive to the streaming site, and it will be a mix of old and new properties. Last year, DreamWorks bought the rights to the Classic Media catalog, which includes uh, classic characters like Casper the Friendly Ghost, Lassie, She-Ra and Mr. Magoo. On the other end of the spectrum, there are also planned spin-offs and shows "inspired" by DreamWorks success like "Shrek" and "The Croods. But first out of the gate? Turbo:....

Well, it looks like the series spawned by Marc Webb will accomplish what Sam Raimi failed to do: get to four films. With a trilogy long expected, the expansion to a fourth film is certainly big news -- especially when the second movie hasn't dropped yet -- and perhaps speaks to Sony's confidence in the series, or their desire not to be left behind in the superhero race. Either way, the studio has dated "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" for June 10, 2016, and the "The Amazing Spider-Man 4" on May 4, 2018, which means -- if you do your math quickly enough -- a new Peter Parker adventure every two years. Nerds rejoice! The sequel has been packing in the characters with Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Electro (Jamie Foxx), Harry Osborn/Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) and (rumored) Vulture (Colm Feore) slated to appear in what is a supposed built up to the Sinister Six.
