49ers QB Colin Kaepernick Refuses To Stand For National Anthem: “There Are Bodies In The Street”

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick says he’s ready for the backlash after his refusal to stand for the national anthem out of support for African Americans and other minorities. He’d better be – responses came fast and sometimes furious.
After sitting out the anthem before Friday’s exhibition game in San Francisco against the Green Bay Packers, Kaepernick told NFL Media, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black…

Hey folks, Harry here… We’re 3 days from gorging LUKE CAGE episodes like it was STRANGER THINGS or DAREDEVIL and I can not wait!  I like when the guys jump on Luke, that his legs don’t buckle do to the weight…  that’s neat.  I loved what we got of Luke Cage in JESSICA JONES – and hope this show brings something new to the Hell Kitchen troubles we’ve seen thus far upon Netflix.  Well…  I know which night I’m not sleeping… (most nights, but still)…

Keep it cool,

Don Cheadle To Trump After Dwyane Wade Comment: “You Truly Are A POS”

It’s a day ending in “y”, and so it is that Donald Trump has sparked another firestorm of criticism this morning, and in doing so landed himself the honor of being called “a POS” (piece of sh**) by House of Lies star Don Cheadle. The cause: a tweet politicizing the tragic death of 32-year-old Nykea Aldridge, cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, who was shot and killed Friday night in Chicago. Offering no condolences, Trump used the occasion of her murder for a tone-deaf…

The Most Outrageous Moments From MTV VMAs Past

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards will be held this Sunday in New York City. The show has delivered unforgettable moments since its inception in 1984, when Madonna writhed on the stage performing “Like a Virgin.” Perhaps the most infamous VMA moment came in 2009, when an inebriated Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for… Read more »

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with this week’s fun selection of films from around the globe. Hopefully you’ve had a solid week filled with a lovely balance of work and play. It’s Saturday, a day to kick your shoes off, plop down on a couch, and soak up the awesomeness of not hearing your boss in the other room (unless of course you’re married! Jokes.) I kid, but what I don’t kid about are the films below, half submitted by the filmmakers and half being films I saw and thought “This is too cool not to share.” As always, I don’t expect everyone out there to completely dig every film I do – but if you see something you like then be sure to speak up about it in the Talkbacks. Take it a step further and check out the filmmakers’ websites or watch other films of theirs. SATURDAY SHORTS exists to find and share new voices and visions, and as such I’ve always made a point to link over to a Director’s webpage or Vimeo Page if possible, as well… that’s what you do when you find something cool and want to share it with folks who are equally as into film as you. Whatever your week’s been like, whatever your weekend plans are, whatever films you might have already seen – I just hope you can kick up your feet, full screen each film, crank the volume up, and dip into the imagination of each filmmaker below.

Dan Stevens, his hair — or someone’s – considerably longer than his floppy Downton Abbey style, looks pretty charming in this set photo from Bill Condon’s upcoming Beauty and the Beast live-action film. Co-producer Jack Morrissey posted the photo on his Facebook page yesterday, noting that the reveal comes “One year to the day after the completion of principal photography,” and adding, “here is your very first look at Dan Stevens as the Prince/Beast.”

Don Cheadle Slams ‘POS’ Donald Trump for Politicizing Shooting Death of Nykea Aldridge

Don Cheadle blasted Donald Trump on Saturday after the presidential candidate politicized the death of Nykea Aldridge, the cousin of NBA playing Dwyane Wade. Trump originally tweeted with the basketball player’s name spelled incorrectly, but later re-tweeted the same sentiments. “Dwyane Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what… Read more »
